I don't remember this being a standard thing. Water that I will then have to to do something with or it will cook my dupes. I would think with the geyser putting out water I will have to insulated pipe off excess instead of just hauling a few bottles in and then sealing it up. I do this with just aqua tuners and some water that I just cycle through over and over. ![]() Some igneous rock tempshift plates in chamber would help.Ĭan also pump steam with steel pump to separate chamber through high preasure vent. ![]() Can even cool very same water you get from turbine. Do able of course and I had already thought of that, but.why when I can use any water and just wall this stupid geyser up and not deal with the heat? I used to like finding them a ways away from my base and would start a oxygen factory around them, but then the heat was a non-issue. Otherwise I will 100% of that heat will be in my base. Using this water to make oxygen is going to be hard.I'd have to pipe it out, do the electrolysis, and then pipe the air back in. I have played 100s of hours and never once worried about water. Even if you are really using the water up.toss a couple slime stills in and you're golden. Water is a pretty much unlimited resource as long as you have latrines and sand. You could also potentially cool it and use it for other things, but using it hot like this is simpler, I think. That potentially give you a neverending source of oxygen for your dupes. ![]() It's relatively easy to cool the resulting hot oxygen and oxygen from an electrolyzer is always at least 70C anyway. In my opinion, the best thing to do with it is use it for oxygen production. Not sure how you can stare a treasure like this in the face and act like it's a bad thing. I have some extra power from the hydrogen generator but too minor to care, and I just want to burn that H2, or vent it in space.Originally posted by catwhowalksbyhimself:So, it never occurred to you that this isn't random? Because it isn't. I burn all the hydrogen to give power to support this setup. In the end I have Cold Water (below 20C) and cool Oxygen (cooled from cold water pipe loop). ![]() This way you don't even need a liquid pump, the Steam Generators are the one pumping, the only power you need is for the aquatuner and automated valve (with temperature checks). With the water from the Steam Generators, you prioritize filling back that cold loop and you put the rest of hot water in electrolyzer. From that loop, you extract water when it gets too cold (to provide cold water elsewhere). You set loop pipe with the Aquatuner to cool around, especially around the Steam Generators. Step one is to vacuum the room so there will just be steam. I like to first build the room with a mecanized door to enter from a small 2x2 with a gas pump, and another mecanized door. Build a room around it with insulated tile, 4 tiles high per 14 ish wide, with an aquatuner inside and 2 Steam Generator on top (wider and a 3rd one if the vent pushed a lot of steam, like > 4kg/s). ![]() ![]() WE SAID THIS: Don’t miss 10 Weird Christmas Traditions from Around the World. On Wikipedia I learned that much more recently, the term functional silo syndrome was coined in 1988 by Phil Ensor, an organizational development consultant for Goodyear, located in Akron, Ohio: I’ll summarize: the Ancient Greeks have a word, “siros” this becomes “sirus” in Latin which becomes “silo” in Spanish – but not all experts agree. The long version is here in the BBC’s The Vocabularist: How did ‘silo’ get to mean something else? and in Grammarphobia‘s The silo syndrome. I kept digging, and here’s where it gets a little murky, as the word silo is a bit of an etymological mystery. So how did the term silo make the transition from Grain Street to Wall Street to Main Street? So I looked up silo, and was surprised that Google’s resulting definition did not even list it as a noun – it was a verb, and I have certainly heard it used this way as well. I mean, I guess the grain in one silo is isolated from grain in another silo? And they can sometimes stand alone out on a farmstead? But it seemed like a farfetched metaphor to me, and not one that necessarily merited a visual to accompany and reinforce it. Photo by /jessrivets of her family’s farm in Martinsville, IndianaĪs I considered drawing a grain silo - but not a missile silo, which leads me to think more of a ‘fortress under seige’ mentality - I realized it did not immediately resonate with me as being a synonym for “place of isolation”, which is the meaning I think the speaker intended. ![]() ![]() ![]() Also present is Alex’s stepbrother, Jonas, and Alex’s late brother’s ex-girlfriend. Alex takes a trip to an island with a group of friends: a stoner named Ren, and his crush, Nona. Simply put, the angst-y teen, Alex, is still trying to figure out her feelings over the death of her brother, while also battling feelings about now having a stepbrother. Story-wise, it’s hard to share, because the core of the game is how the cast interacts with one another in the adventure. Imagine any RPG, but you can move around and interact with the environment while the characters are talking and sharing information. ![]() This small mechanic, escalated the immersion I experienced in the game to another level. Small details like stoking a fire, throwing rocks, and such are just examples of what Alex can do amidst the plot. The beautifully painted world contains many interactive features, giving a lot of character and nuance to what is a simple game (picking dialogue choices). Occasionally, that can lead to the quirk of the group of friends wanting to do something, but are waiting on Alex to return to where the conversation took place. Interestingly, while the player can explore while the conversations are going, they still are represented in a fashion that they are right there, next to the rest of the cast. For example, do you agree with your stepbrother that you should enter the mysterious cave? Or do you agree with your friend, that you shouldn’t bother with it, in fear of the worst.Īlex is able to move around even in the midst of her conversations. Every conversation, many of which can be cut short by the player, can be viewed in a way that makes you wonder where the story might go had you have chosen a different response. Branching paths in the dialogue are not in short supply here. ![]() Players take control of the character, Alex, but the main focus is around the group of friends who Alex interacts with. The mechanic itself is just the narrative. This is in due part to how the narrative operates. Often, particular moments in the story are revisited with a small change, that was noticeable enough for me to realize that there was something else happening and I wasn’t even aware of it. It’s one of those haunting, very intriguing tales that you learn more about when you come back to the beginning, or see earlier scenes from a new perspective. Yet, Oxenfree finds a way to differentiate itself from similar plots like in Stranger Things, Harry Potter, or Scooby Doo. The story of a group of teenagers exploring in a mysterious setting is nothing new. ![]() |
